How To Embed Your Tweets

Taking a screen shot of a tweet and then posting to your site is often tedious and static.  The good chums over at Twitter are here to rescue you though.  Here’s their simple script that allows you to embed a tweet on your own site. It’s pretty straightforward, here’s what you do:

  1. Visit http://media.twitter.com/blackbird-pie/
  2. Enter the URL of the tweet you wish to emded (e.g. http://twitter.com/onehalfamazing/status/13190756923) and click “Bake It”
  3. Copy and paste the resulting code into your web site.  All links, hashtags and account settings become clickable.  The only bad thing, it doesn’t work on Tumblr at the present time.

Here’s a sample

Determining Social Media ROI

Olivier Blanchard Basics Of Social Media Roi

Key Takeaways

  • Social Media is not free – it takes resources such as time, people and technology
  • There are lots of non-financial items such as retweets, impressions and facebook fans that many marketers equate to ROI, but that’s not necessarily true. ROI is dependent on an actual financial impact.
  • Things like sales revenue, number of transactions and new customers are what makes an impact on the bottom line.  Make sure your transaction data measures your frequency, reach and yield (see slide 47).
  • Overlay your data to see what patterns develop.  Can you correlate your social media efforts to increase dollars per transaction, customer frequency, etc?  What trends and precursors develop?
  • Find what works, then work to make it better

How To Add Twitter to Google Wave

So you’ve got a Google Wave invite and your chomping at the bit to integrate twitter into your waves?  Well, Danny Sullivan has the answer for you.

Basically, you need to add Tweety-Wave as one of your contacts (tweety-wave@appspot.com) and then add them to a new wave.  The application will verify your login credentials and you’re off an running.  There are a few downfalls as Tweety-Wave and Google Wave are brand new, so the features are on the short side, but that is to be expected.  Try it out and let me know what you think.

For those of you that were lucky enough to get a Google Wave invite, how do you like it?
